While in Illinois for other adventures, we spent July 4th at the Illinois Railway Museum in Union. I used to frequent the Museum when I lived in the area, and July 4th was a special traction-themed day. They were also running one of their steam locomotives, which returned to service last year after a decade of repairs. We met with family while there, and I got to see most of the equipment and ride some too. It was a very hot, humid day, but the plethora of trains made up for that.
Below are several photos from the day at IRM. You can also get plenty of info and pictures from http://www.irm.org/ and http://hickscarworks.blogspot.com/.
Until next week, keep those rail shiny ~
